Resolutions

My New Year 2004 Resolutions

We have spent the early moments of the new year in prayer. Prayers of thanksgiving and hope. What a great way to start the new Year! Another significant event took place the early hours of this New Year, Gabriel was struck with a high fever of 39 degree centigrade at 5am. We sent him to KK emergency. Thank God his fever came down and we went home with many bottles of medicines. Emily is not well too. She is down with sore throat. Gladys has a slight fever yesterday too. It was a very trying day. Pray for us.

Nevertheless, I’m reminded in the scripture on the temptation of Jesus in Matt 4. First temptation: fulfill your physical need. Turn the stones to bread. Christ’s words were “You shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that come from the mouth of God.” My first resolution is to live this year by the word of God. Putting reading, teaching, writing of God’s inspiration a priority this year.

Second temptation: testing God. Jump from the highest point of temple and command the angels to save you. Christ words were “You shall not put the Lord you God to test.” Interestingly, I believe many believers are fond of doing that. They called that “By Faith”. Examples, By faith I’m investing the money in stock and shares. By faith I’m buying this landed house. I’m not against stock and shares and landed house. My second resolution is not to put My God to test. Lest not do something hastily, without praying and consulting experts.

Third temptation: Worldliness. Christ words were “You shall serve the Lord you God only”. This is a tough one that I’ve constantly struggled with. The association of success with material possessions. The adrenal rush to become rich quickly. The MLM, ideas of money making business. I must tell you that I have a breakthrough recently. I find my life purpose and passion in understanding the Great Commission. I will continue to work hard, continue to acquire new skills, polishing talents to serve in the Kingdom of God. My third resolution is to serve God and Him only.

My brothers and sisters, I have found the true spring of joy in Christ this season. Circumstances will not withhold me from experiencing this new found joy.

May God bless you with His everlasting JOY.
